Walking In The Forest

We walked in the forest today as we have read somewhere that it would always be good to walk your dog everyday.

Cash tried staying out of my path but he walks and runs around bushes and gets tangled around them when he tries to come back to me.

Patience is what I have, especially when we are trying to talk to him in Swedish. Everything is pretty new to him, of course. Surroundings, the language, and us. So, we try to keep explaining to him that he shouldn't be running around the bushes because he gets tangled plus the rope burns my skin when he runs around me as well. I would explain this to him while I slowly untangle the leash.

Above is a picture of Cash, enjoying the sun!

We then gave him a treat after the walk. Above is a picture of him enjoying a chew bone on a really soft and furry blanket, surrounded by pillows!

Oh yeah, there's this app on the iPhone where my brother edited his picture. He said this is how the portrait of Cash would be if he were Japanese! I think he looks good in black and white. Time to go to bed now, and see you all on the next post!

First Day Home

On the way home from the airport, Cash fell asleep on the car instantly. He was definitely tired from the trip, so I placed my hand under his chin, because his head keeps falling off onto the hand break. He must have been very exhausted, since he was drooling too haha!

My husband and I watched several videos on housebreaking a pup, one of which is entitled "How To Potty Train a Puppy - How to House Train Your Dog" by HowdiniGuru.

The first thing I did was bring him to his potty area and repeated the words bajsa and kissa, which directly translates to pee (#1) and poop (#2). We decided to use the direct words in swedish so it is easier for him to understand. However, he might have been highly stressed that he was not able to do either of those so I tried walking him around for a bit before we went into the apartment.

Walking was difficult, as he kept looking up at me. He would walk on my path and the leash ends up around my feet, almost always tripping me. I could not get mad, though. He was just too cute! Although, I was firm at telling him to walk straight and to stop looking at me. Hard part was that maybe he only understood Romanian commands, and I was talking in Swedish.

By the time we got home, it took awhile before husse came home. At first, he started barking and growling at him because he did not know who he was. It was just I and my sister-in-law who picked up Cash at the airport, so maybe Cash thought we were the ones he was going to move in with!

Anyway, husse approached steadily. I introduced them to each other by hugging husse and motioning for Cash to go to us. Cash's tail was wagging happily and our smiles widened.

Before getting dinner, we hung out at the courtyard to relax a little. I took a picture of Cash to show to family and friends, and they all said that he has huge ears :D

Then, we had dinner, and we scrubbed him for his first bath. I am assuming he felt refreshed to be cleaned before going to bed!

Well, that concludes the trip and the first day with us and good night for now!

Moving Home

Today is Wednesday! The angels, Maria and Christel, flew with Cash from Romania to Arlanda Airport, and helped the pets to their new homes in Sweden. Pick-up is at the arrival area as soon as they arrive.

It will be great! I am sure Cash will miss his mom, Anita, and his other siblings, but this is his time to explore the world :)

Some other pets are also being rescued with him: Agria, Alex, Sorina, Paola, and Ozana! Here are some of the pictures below. For more pictures of this arrival, check out Dog Rescue on their homepage!

Here we are!

Here is a video of us and the other families!!

Adopting A Dog

This long wait for the arrival of Cash is just forever! I was searching on topics about dogs, puppies, and pet adoption and I came across IAMS. The amount of information on the website is overwhelming! Everything is about expert advice on puppies, presented by howdini! I came across this video that I would like to share to others who are just about to adopt a dog, the title is: "Facts and Myths about Adopting a Rescue Dog." I hope this would be an eye-opener to everyone, as it was for me.

Cute Little Cash

...or at least that is what I, matte wants to say. In Swedish, it means female owner and husse means male owner. These are words I should start teaching him when he comes home with us in a couple of weeks!

We are excited and very happy to adopt a dog, it is our way of helping out on one of the biggest problems in the world: pet overpopulation.

As for this entry: see his pictures and a video of his really cute family members at the rescue shelter in Romania! Anita is his mother, and they are five in the family. His other siblings are Blair, Nana, Bing, and Dora.
